Monday November 20
Ok,
so Sunday went by and we read the paper and just hung out. I turned to
Terry and
asked
what did we do on Sunday and he said HE hauled black and gray water.
You
do know how we do that by know don't you without
a Blue Boy.
We had a visitor who rode
up on a bike asked do you know where HitchItch is located?
We said yes we do... that
is us...
We had a great visit about
this lifestyle and and where we have each traveled.
It is great finding friends
who we meet on the net and who later stop by in real life to say hello!
Now on Monday night we had
another little campfire.
I told Terry this is not
like camping, for a weekend, this is everyday ongoing.
Day after day, in perfect
weather, our minds say that people just don't do that for months on end.
But here we are doing just
that.
Time for the tomato plant
update... It has to curled up toward the sun.
It will have to turn back
down when it gets fruit on it I think.
Getting bigger!

Had to find a Honda generator
repair shop first thing this morning. The Honda generator has been
running a little on the
rough side and will not idle properly of late, and to keep it going we
have been
using the choke to get it
to run properly. One side effect of this is that we were able to
foul the spark plug.
Last night it nearly died
in the middle of the evening, and would have crashed the computer if we
had not
heard it failing and shut
everything down in time.
Found Denkens Equipment in
Blythe Ca and got an appointment for Monday morning for them to Repair
the
generator. They are
going to try to turn around the repair on Monday so we can get the Generator
back
Monday afternoon in case
we want to watch TV Monday night. Have not figured out what we might
miss on the tube, probably
not much, but who wants to take the chance.
The people at Denkens could
not see about our generator till Monday as they are currently very busy
getting all the wheeled
toys repaired and delivered for the long weekend. Californian's seem
to spend Thanksgiving
differently then us Northerners,
They are just a likely to hit the desert for a long weekend camp out as
to go
to granny's for a big dinner.
Went to Q late in the afternoon
for a few items, RO water, gas for the generator and a few groceries
from the
General store. Tonight
will try to make no boil lasagna. Tried the recipe a while back when
we were delayed
with supper, and the lasagna
dried out in the oven. Hoping to give the recipe one more shot to
see if it works,
If not give it (the recipe)
the heave ho.

Went
to the library to take back one book I didn't like and to get reading material
for over the
weekend
since it is closed for the next 4 days. Eureka...
saw a sign at the library about Flu Shots
next
week at the QIA building by the County Health Dept. on Nov. 30 at 10 AM
for a donation of $10...
Yes
and Thank You...
Our
Friends Bob and Sandy (you remember them) stopped by and told us they found
and
bought
a great 5th wheel up at Lake Havasu City.
It
was fun to just be around them, to see their excitement, on their way to
fulltiming and
getting
the tools to travel they way they have dreamed. They are also getting involved
in
the
Quartzsite lifestyle, joining the local clubs for their activities.
We
stopped by and found that La Casa Del Rancho restaurant is serving Thanksgiving
Dinner.
They
just ask you call and tell them how many will be showing up.
We
know they will be seriving a great meal. So that is where we are going
on Turkey Day.
Then
relax and watch a little football or just hang out and read a good book
out under the shade
on
the picnic table.
We
found some flowers on our tomato plant today... I should say Sandy
noticed them.
Grow
baby grow before it gets cold. The label said fruit in 54 days.
Now
need to look back and see how ling it has been planted.
We
have found an alarm system to portect our Honda 2000i generator...
They
are the big item to steal down here.
More
about that next week when the alarm system gets sent to us.

Happy
Thanksgiving
No snow in Quartzsite
but maybe where you're at.
Looks like the poor
bird is trying to fly south!
Had
a great meal at the La Casa Del Rancho restaurant, all home made turkey
dinner
at only $9.50. Huge amount of turkey with great dressing and real mashed
pototes,
green
been cassoral with bacon and onions.
Sweet
potatos, cranberryies, roll and pumpkin pie. Now that was good eaten...
Came
back and it was time to go for a ride to see how other campers in the BLM
were
doing
on this fine day and to get water. Each barrel holds 15 gal. With them
on the back
of
the truck we can just siphon them into the fresh tank in the 5er.
We
have a pump but don't need to use it.
Terry
at the water station in La Posa South BLM area. We are in La Posa North
which is about 2-3 miles north.
You
have to take the main HWY 95 to get there so if dumping gray or black,
you just can't pull a blue boy
from
the north area to the south area on the highway. That's why our 50 gal
dump tank setup works so well.
See
our article on... We did away with the Blue Boy How
we deal with gray and black water.
I
am slipping, I just noticed I also listed this link back on Nov. 20 at
the top of this page.

We
are planning on going about a 1 mile into Quartzsite to Radio Shack for
their Black Friday sale.
(It
opened last year and we love this store as a resource for all things electronic)
We try to support it as we
think
how far we would have to travel to find anything like it. The truth is
there is a Radio Shack in Blyth, CA
20
mi. west and one in Parker, AZ 35 mi. north.
(Writing
this on Thursday night) It is the only box like store within 80 miles (as
in Staples, Best Buy, or even
a
Wal Mart super store) so they have a few things we could use and
the price is right.
There
is a Kmart in Blythe, CA but it is not up to speed and the stores isles
are kind of bare.
Not
going to tell you what I want in case we don't get them. (Terry
could care less, he is into rocks!)
Sneaky...
OK
OK ...
Presidian
Noise Canceling headphones for $14.99 reg $29.99
Maxtor
160 GB External hard drive (USB) for $69.95 reg $120
GMRS/FRS
2-way radios $19.99 reg $49.95
Labtec
Media Desktop wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse. $9.99 after
rebate.
So
there... tune in later to see if we got them or just stayed in bed.
7:00
PM and reporting the days events...
Well
we got up at 4:30 AM and headed off to Radio Shack
in Quartzsite, AZ.
A
whole 1 or so mile up the road. We were the first ones there at about
10 till 5. Did I say AM.
We
sat there and sat there, and no one else showed up at ALL.
They opened up and in I walked.
They
said I hope we have what you are looking for. Well they hand NONEof
the items I wanted!!! She explained they are
not
a corporate store and don't get the product like other stores. Well isn't
that just great. To their credit they called the
Blythe,
CA store to see if they had the items I wanted as it is a corporate store.
YES they had
the stuff, but would not hold
the
items for me. I would have to show up to get the stuff, and was told they
had people waiting outside. BUT
I
was in AZ and it was 10 after 6 AM and in CA it was only 10 after 5. So
had time to drive 20 miles to that store.
About
that time I was wondering about my sanity. Now it was a quest, SO
off
we went.
Terry
just sat there and was quiet being the good guy he is. For the first time,
drove the speed limit to get there.
Held
it to 72 mph. Got there with about 30 min. till opening,
and had a good time bantering with the others
(about
6 people as it got close to 6 AM CA time) (I was third in line) outside
watching the sunrise.
I
knew they had 5 of the 160 G hard drive units from the phone call. So was
in a good mood.
As
we talked the others said they wanted things I didn't.
The
store opened, a sales associate was right up front, and I asked her to
direct me to the items I wanted.
They
knew I had come over from Q as we talked through the doors.
The
store associate was great and even helped carry the items as my arms were
getting full.
Got
everything I wanted and more.
Reflections... this Black
Friday thing is just NUTS. And we were in
the desert FAR from the real mad rush
of the box box stores
in the large cities.
Just
saw Bob and Sandy go by, in the dark,
leading the dealer, who is delivering their fulltime 5er,
to
be set up, in the BLM where they are camped.
More later.... Are
we having fun yet...

Slept
in a bit to recover from Black Friday. Went for a visit about 3 PM
to see Bob and Sandy's new 5er home and
all
I can say is WOW. Top of the line 2002 Holiday Rambler 35 foot 5er. Full
wood cabinets, not just wood doors.
Not
many have that. A very nice unit that was used only a few weeks a year
by a couple who had it in a RV park
and
didn't travel in it. You could tell it had never been used. It is like
NEW. A
top of the line trailer with many
upgraded
features you just don't find, even in many other so called top of the line
5ers.
I
don't think they realized just how great a buy they found! This is a true
fulltimers quality unit.
Like
the the car buying story, where people find one, only used by a little
old lady who drove it once a week to church.
I told
them they would not like fulltiming, and they should just sell their
5er to us. They didn't think much of that idea.
You
can see just how much they are getting into this lifestyle.
So
we came back to our humble 5er home and did the Saturday streaming thing
" A Prairie Home Companion" radio
show
from NPR. Terry is cooking fish and chips and watching a Harry Potter movie
on HBO while I do this.
Next
off to the forums to see what people are posting.
