Sunday December 3
Tonight
was the annual Quartzsite Christmas parade so we thought we would go to
it.
They
hold this thing at 7 PM in the dark (it's dark at 5:30 this time of year)
so the lights on the floats can be seen,
and
close down the main north south Hwy 95. So we came up a side street
and found it was blocked.
I
looked and did not see anyone behind me and started to back up and hit
this little car with my bumper hitch and
punched
a hole in their plastic front bumper. After we had exchanged info I go
back in the truck and saw that there
was
no way I could have seen them behind me. So as you can imagine I am not
in a real good mood.
We
did not stay for the parade. Would have been nice if the lady had sounded
her HORN.
I had
planned to showcase parade pictures BUT guess not this year. We
went back
I'm
trying to look at the bigger picture. But right now, just pissed.
Do
you ever feel that way when you screw up?
Last
week I didn't want to spend $40 on outdoor carpet... Now I'm buying a new
bumper for someone!
DAMN...
Just
sent Terry out to get fast food. Isn't that what we do in America to calm
our emotions.
Hope
Monday looks better...
Wednesday December 6
How
time flies when you are having fun.. Missed a couple of days. But still
busy on the computer.
Been
working on additions to the main www.hitchitch.com
site.
You see there is
a problem in the BLM long term camping areas...
and that is thieves
stealing Generators, Bicycles, and ATV's.
So
I got busy, and found a device that would alarm real loud (120
decibels) if anyone tried to steal ours.
Now
I am selling them to RVers who also need protection. ALARM
IT Cable Locks.
You
can find all the information and possibly order one at www.hitchitch.com/alarm
Anyone who tries to steal
this, is going to wake up the neighborhood with lights and alarms.
Thursday December 7
Spent
last night till late working on the main web site. Then couldn't get to
sleep with thoughts about
how
to handle sales, shipments and how to promote the units. Need to do the
sales on the internet
so
I don't get caught up in vender permits and sales taxes. The BLM doesn't
allow commericial activity
on
the grounds. Need to check with the ranger and see if they're OK with my
process.
Shipping
is a bigger deal than I thought. Finding it is about twice what I am charging
for S & H.
Will
just to eat the cost.
Anyway
take a look at this...
Our first tomato.
Terry is cooking pork ribs
with bone in, in the oven.
Cauliflorer salad.
It is great Cut up
a head and some chopped onion and add frozen peas.
Next mix in a dash of milk
and a table spoon or so of mayonaise. (or lite salad dressing)
Sprinkle in on top seasons
salt to taste. I like a lot of seasons salt. Let stand. Better the next
day.
One good salad.

Just
outside the development sales office of a big high-rise condo project here
in Q there is a metal
rendering
of a dinosaur. Sort of like the project. Nothing has moved since last year.
Can
you imagine a high-rise right next to I-10.
Next door is a temporary
sales lot for Beaudry RV. They are the ones who bought the north side
of Rice Ranch. Dislocated
many vendors for another huge RV sales lot.
As we went by the 'hot' air
was going out of the depiction of an RV salesman.
At least that is what we
think it looks like. Bet Beaudry RV doesn't see it that way, but a happy
camper.
Pic on right is inflated
version. Would you buy a RV from this RAT?
Vendors are setting up but
the numbers seems to be lower so far. BLM ranger sez long term area camper
numbers have been less and
less each year. The last real big year was way back in 1992 according to
him.
I read on the web somewhere
that RV use in the national parks was off 20% or more over the last few
years.
Stay tuned and we shall
see how it goes in Q this year. It is still way early to draw a conclusion.
Many just won't leave home
till after Christmas.
Tomorrow an update on our
selling Alarm
It units to prevent thieves stealing camping equipment.
Thanks for your orders!
Saturday December 9
Had
a good talk with the BLM ranger to make sure I was within the BLM rules
on selling ALARM IT units.
Here
is the scoop... No commercial activity on BLM land without a permit and
Bond. AND you can not stay on
BLM
land and sell on it at the same time. They don't want venders on BLM land.
The permit is for people who
come
in and have a dump service etc.
That
is what the vender areas in town are for. But I can sell on the internet
(of course) and have people stop by to
view
the alarm unit, but just can't sell it to them here on BLM land. I don't
want to do that either as I don't want to have
to
pay AZ state income tax or sales tax. Now sales tax is at about 10% in
Q. So if a person is in Q and wants a unit
they
can stop by and see it and step inside my 5er if they don't have internet
access and use my computer to order it.
Or
go to the library and use the free computers and order it. Shipping charges
refunded with that setup.
A
little complicated but doable. If you are not in Q this season you can
just order it
online.
This
is more about not having $1000 generators stolen than me making sales.
Sure it gives me something to do,
and
another reason to get up in the morning.
Like
they say a good nights sleep without worrying about your generator...
PRICELESS!
Now
back to life in Q and enough of this alarm stuff.
Terry
is making homemade pizza and I am on the net. A good Sat. night in Q with
of course GREAT weather.
It
is getting warmer. May have a nice campfire on Sunday.
