A lazy Sunday
on C J Strike Reserivor and more...
It is warm and sunny today
and we sat out for the sunset... We plan on moving on so we didn't have
a campfire tonight.
The
weekend campers have left the sites so we can enjoy the peace and quite
to ourselves.
We
do plan on moving on Monday, but for today as you can see this is another
special place. We will move on into Nevada as we leave the great
state of Idaho. We have spent the last month or so exploring Idaho and
we found this is a very speicial place and as you can expect we will be
back. We now have the experience of traveling many of the main routes.
Look at that statement... main routes ... there are only a few of them.
We even came over the divide on a gravel road for god sakes. Who
could get over the splendor of HW 12. Now that we have been over the roads
and seen the area it gives us a clue on where we want to come back to,
so as to spend more in depth time. It is not easy going anywhere in this
state. It is more isolated than we had expected by just looking at the
maps. This is not a drive through state, you have to love it here to live
here. Me thinks UPS and FedEX is loosing money by delivering goods
to these people.
As
people from a midwest background we were not ready for all the wilderness
we found in Idaho. We found so much more than we had expected. So many
times we think, as we travel down the road "This is just more of
the same. But Idaho is a whole new deal. We will be back. Sometimes I think
we have seen it all... as we have been to so many places in the west...
But as we get off the interstate and get back into it, we find we are only
on the edge of what is out there for us to explore. Our journey is only
beginning.
A
big rig looking for a tent experience...We are always on the edge.. of
where we can fit into.

As promised Terry's
2010 Fly Fishing Report.
His
post talks about fishing last spring in New Mexico and now while on our
fall trip in Idaho.
If
you fly fish you can learn much from his real life experiences. There
is no hipe from a fly shop here,
just
true talk about what it was like, what he used to fish with, and where
he fished this year.
Now
if that doesn't trip your trigger not to worry if fishing isn't your thing.
That is OK, makes more room for the rest of us to find that perfect fishing
spot. Just like I love RVers who are big golfers who rush to fancy
RV parks to partake in their sport. It leaves the boondocking sites open
for the rest of us. To each their own, it is a big campground out there.
May we all find our spaces we each like.
We
are spending much time on the internet exploring where we want to stop
while going down east central NV.
(Maps from Public
Lands Information Center)
Right now the plan is head
south down to Elko, NV on HW 225 from ID.
Then later to Ely and south
while doing so on as many local paved back roads as possible. I stress
paved as some first thoughts for travel after checking turned out were
numbered routes but were actually dirt according to our Benchmarp Maps
Nevada Road and Recreation Atlas. Not good. If you thought Nevada was flat
and uninteresting stay tuned.
RVs with boats are starting
to move into the campground. So me wonders if they are here just
for the fishing. Me thinks we are looking at fishing tournament or a water
duck hunting season to open. Will keep you informed with the weekend
events.

We moved up in
the world so to speak.
How
is it we came up in the world... We were below the dam and decided to move
up to the campground above it.
The
sun came out about 2 PM and we said lets move. So now all is well with
the world. After I took this shot I started a fire in the fire pit on the
other side of the picnic table. And discovered I have 3G Verizon service
up here. Pandora music tonight on my Droid Incredible.
If it warms up we can go
swimming as this is the view from our site looking towards the dam amd
the swimming area and picnic area. Idaho Power does a wonderful job
in these parks for the public to use. All this is free.
Fish
were jumping so I sent Terry off to go fishing of the dock. No luck but
he got to put his line in the water... never a bad deal.
Yah he still is working on
his fishing report... We will be here for a few days so it should get done
as rain clouds are moving in from the south so tomorrow we should have
time to internet it to get it posted. After that the weather is looking
good for the weekend. We should get our Priority Mail at a the Post Office
on Friday. As we plan ahead we wonder why rush from the this great location
into Nevada to get to Quartzsite. We have gobs of time to get there so
why rush. To reinforce that point do scroll back up and look at the pictures
of this FREE campground again.

Keeping a low
profile.
Still
hanging out at the C J Strike Reservoir.
The waters are full of cormorants,
sea gulls, geese, several varieties of ducks, and of course large jumping
carp.
Watching nature is a fulltime
job if you want it to be.
The
weekend campers are all gone and we have the place to ourselves. The weather
has turned cooler with on and off rain showers. A big change from last
week of being down right hot. We as advertised made it to Mountain Home
to get a oil change but the Chevy dealer told us they could not do the
front end alignment as promised. Same old story their alignment machine
couldn't handle duallys. So we went right down the street to Les Schwab
and they got us right in and did great job. I had been trying for a long
time to get this done as so many tire places can't do a dually truck. But
Les
Schwab Tires sure could. And they were friendly and prompt. I will
go back to them whenever I am in an area they cover. Mostly in the northwest.
We
are just hanging out on the internet taking it easy. I have requested our
mail forwarding provider to send us a bundle so will wait for that. No
cell service but we of course are getting email. Not in a rush to do or
be anywhere. That's what's it's all about don't ya think? May move
up to the lake view campground on Wednesday for a change of pace.
Terry sez he is still working
on his fishing report. We shall see as he claims it is now up to three
pages.

We hit another
jackpot in camping sites.
We are south of Mountian
Home, ID. at the C J Strike Reservoir below the dam at Scout
Park, and should I dare say it again. In a FREE IPC campground. And
to think people head to Walmarts.
Boise is northwest going
up I-84.
We are below the dam center
campground. There is also a great park to the left of center on top with
views of the lake.
After a few days we may
move to the upper level. We have a appointment at the Chevy dealer on Monday
for a oil change and front end alignment. Mind you, not till 1 PM as I'm
retired and not getting up early for such things anymore.
We choose on the water as
hoped Terry could go fishing. But it looks like fly fishing is not the
sport here. They are out fishing to be sure but with giant polls stacked
to the ground, bottom fishing for White Sturgeon. Terry would look a little
silly with a light fly rod.
Terry has promised to write
up a fishing report of where he has fly fished in Idaho on our trip this
fall and what his results were.

where we are at right now. DataStormUsers
