Sunday December 10

We thought while in bed and listening to the radio... It might rain today... was the news.
It didn't happen. Nor did it even cloud up. So after bran flakes with skim milk I read the paper,
while Terry surfed the web. Later I worked on web sites. Updating the Alarm It page and making
fliers to put up around town. Made a road sign so people can find us. This is a big thing in the BLM
with little cute signs everywhere to show where people are camped. Late morning Terry filled our fresh
water holding tank and in late afternoon we went to get our 5 gal drinking water container filled and
to put up a few fliers around town.

Saw this street sign today... We knew it was there but we came up to it just right to be able to take a picture of it.

Looking north on Central Blvd. The main north-south street which is Hwy 95
It may not have a name, but it is a main street to to be able to get to the esat side of town.
Only on Quartzsite.
By the way Q has now black topped every street they have, and that is a big deal when most of them
were in the past just dirt paths. We have to give this city credit, they do have great infrastructure.
Water and sewer to all locations. Now they need development. BUT remember the temp. is like 120 for
much of the summer. And jobs would help to bring people in the off snowbird season.

Tuesday December 12

We went to Bouse, AZ on a rock club field trip this AM looking for jasper hemitite.
There were about 20 vehicles in the caravan. Drove about 5 miles back off the main road northwest of Bouse.
Bouse is about 35 miles northeast of Q.

Had to drive through a few washes to get to the claim for the rock hunt.

We didn't stay for lunch and took off on our own adventure on some back roads east
of Bouse for about 50 miles.
Came to a irrigated hay farm way back in a isolated valley and had to cross the Arizona
water project cannel few times. At one spot the cannel went underground for a mile or so.
This supplies Phoenix with water from the Colorado north of Parker Dam.

Got back to Q and had lunch out (the special was chicken salad). We just had a whole roasted chicken
a couple of nights ago and with left overs, not in the mood for more chicken. So Hamberger and fries.
Then went to the post office for flat rate boxes to send off Christmass and birthday presents.
Next shopping for new blinds for the kitchen. We have a rear kitchen in the 5er and with day night
shades they tend to get splaters and crud on them. And damn near impossible to clean.
OK I said it... Terry is messy cook. Aren't all good cooks!? Am I redeemed?
So we found new minnie blinds for get this, $5 each at the big RV vender. Still in the wrapper.
Two are 20 '' wide and one is 45'' wide. Pictures when installed. Don't hold your breath...

Wednesday December 13
by your roving reporter Terry

I think I surprised Ron this morning, first I didn't rush off to play in the rock club, then when he didn't
expect it, I put up the blinds we got yesterday.  Really caught him by surprise.  He is now threatening to come
up with a Terry do list.

The blinds were easy to install (after the first one), but still took most of the morning, and only involved on trip
to the hardware store.  I must be loosing my touch, usually when I'm not completely thrilled about the terry do
project that I am working on I can find several more excuses to go hide out at the hardware store or
home center,  Its a guy thing.

The easy two are done.

Having labored hard for most of the morning I was allowed the afternoon off to recover, and went to the Rock Club.
The main entertainment there was the Wednesday afternoon class in flint knapping.  Its one of the things I have not
yet had the time or opportunity to try out.  After one false start and a shattered bit of obsidian I was able to get three
small arrow heads done.  The smallest and chunckiest was an experminent to just texture the front face so the back
remains flat to set in a silver bezel, but it didnt turn out very well and I then did the other two.  Will wire wrap the two
good arrow heads, and think about trying again for the flat backed pc to set in silver.

Thursday December 14

by Ron
Now that Terry got the blinds up I decided I should do some house cleaning.
So a good vacuum and went also with a rug cleaner and sprayed and scrubbed any spots I could find.
I does feel good to look at the kitchen area and see nice clean blinds. Sometimes you just don't know
how bad things look untill you take them down and get a good look. Yuck. A good cleaning improves the sprits.

The orig. pic is on the left, and now today this sucker is getting bigger.
BUT the weather for Sunday on into next week, doesn't look good for tender little things like this.
In the best Quartzsite tradition, we will worry about then when the time comes.
Then I get to yell at Terry that he didn't plan ahead. What I do best!

Good TV tonight so will put down the books and watch.  We have not had it on for the last few days.

Friday December 15

by your roving reporter Terry
It was laundry day.  I know, your supposed to do the laundry on Monday, cause thats when grandma, or
mother did it, but what can I say, the laundry baskets were full and there were no other pressing duties so
off to the laundromat.

Had three loads of laundry, and after loading the washers went across the street and checked out the
semi permanent junk vendor.  There was lots and lots of wonderful stuff, but absolutely nothing that would
interest a full time rv'er.

After laundry got propane and a few groceries.  Looks like it will be hamburgers tonight.

Warm day no wind but things to change big time on Sunday they tell us.
Still wondering what to do about the tomato plant to get it out of the weather.

They resolved a liability issue at the rock club so I can now go back to teaching lost wax silver casting.
Don't know what that is look at this link.

Saturday December 16

A day with clouds due to the coming storm. Glad we are not in Seattle with high winds and loss
of power to 1.5 million. We shall see how much reain we get here in teh southwest.
A nice rainstorm would be nice. Terry did his thing and dumped the blacka nd gray and added fresh water.
That's a good job done if it is to be wet for a few days. He also got the tomato plant stowed underneath the 5er.
Did not go out and see how he did it.

Our friend Bob stopped by to lend me a book on metal detecting called 'Nuggetshooting Dryplacer Areas'
Thinking of going with him when he goes prospecting for nuggets.

Saturday night with a pot roast in the oven and I  (Ron) surfing the web while Terry reads.
And with the TV on in the background with the Hallmark channel 'Love's Abiding Joy' western (2006)
Guess we will see if we like it. Haven't seen a good western in ages. With the Hall CH might be a bit mushy!
On Network TV is 'It's a Wonderful Life" so about the same but this one is a western...
